OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care


The OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care is designed to equip learners with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and practical skills required for employment and further study within the health and social care sector.


The qualification provides learners with an understanding of professional responsibilities, personal and professional development, effective communication, ethical practice, health and safety, person-centred approaches and the effective handling of information within health and social care settings.


Qualification Structure

Learners are required to complete six mandatory units:

  1. Responsibilities of a Health and Social Care Worker
  2. Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care
  3. Effective Communication and Ethical Practice in Health and Social Care
  4. Health, Safety and Wellbeing in Health and Social Care Settings
  5. Person-centred Approaches in Health and Social Care Settings
  6. Effective Handling of Information in Health and Social Care Settings

The qualification carries a total of 60 credits and 600 Total Qualification Time (TQT) hours.


Assessment

All units are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by OTHM. Learners must provide evidence demonstrating that they have achieved the required learning outcomes and assessment criteria.


Progression

Successful completion can support learners in progressing into employment within health and social care or continuing their academic studies, including progression to relevant OTHM Level 4 qualifications.
